Bristol science museum- carnage in school holidays? Would the zoo be better?

Heading up country on a long drive on friday. Was hoping to break it around Bristol and wanted to try the science museum. Have two kids, 18 months and nearly 4. Is it very busy in holidays and if it is busy is it busy in a BAD way? We could come back out of holidays as would like to do it anyway at some point. Other option is the zoo... any advice?

love Explore at Bristol.
Has a great airplane section at the mo which dd and boy friend (both age just 4) would have sold their souls to stay in! They can fly planes and everything! Its like a giant soft play centre so even the 18 month old will love it.

Its great even if busy as very large (only been there once when too busy and we go lots), esp good if wet, and parking easy. Only drawback is price. But also has lots of restaurants around it.

Zoo great too, even if wet as lots of inside bits. Can get v crowded around 11-3ish, but usually the crowds are very tolerable.

Come off the Portway for both and you can zip on and off. Hope that helps!
