8 hourflight...how to occupy?

HollowHead · 16/08/2008 15:00

can anyone give me any ideas on how to occupy kids during an 8 hour flight?

I'm thinking Ipod - 1 hour
food - 1 hour
movie - 2 hours

so that just leaves another 4 hours.

How old?
Will there be seat back TVs - DSs used to watch these for the whole 8 hours!
DS Lites occupied DSs for the whole 8 hours this summer.

Who are you flying with? We went xl for 9 hours and ds had absolutley no hope of seeing the movie (too small - and there are no TV's in seat backs) - however, they hire you a mini TV thing (9£) which occupied him for a huge chunk of time......

i'm interested in the responses here as we are contemplating a seven hour flight with a 14month old - mad, probably. be interested how others have coped with this?

Silvermum, we flew to abu dhabi (7 hours) with 11 month old not so long ago. It wasn't too bad at all! If possible book an overnight flight, we flew back at night and DS slept the whole way. Also get a aisle seat and be prepared to walk up and down the aisle and round the galleys! DP and I took it in turns to entertain so one could rest. Took a bag of toys and food. DS slept really well on the daytime flight, I think it was the drone of the engines
