The chip family are coming to London for a couple of days, can any 1 advise us please?

So we have pe booked the London eye and have planned the natural history museum for afterwards day one...can we sqwueeze any thing else in on day one?

day 2,,,no plans, what can we do. ds is 5 btw

have been recommended the transport museum in covent garden?

no, both dh and ds would LOVE it, is it far from natural history museum?

Duck Tour? Amphibious truck thing goes along the road doing the tourist tour then plunges into the river and finishes off the tour there! We're hoping to do for DS's birthday this year. Seen it around London a lot and looks like fun.

and it picks up from the road next to County Hall, ie right by the London Eye

The museum of childhood at Bethnal Green is excellent. We went with DS's 4&6, stayed 4 1/2 hours and they didn't want to leave.

The found the natural history museum a bit big and crowded TBH.

The best part for them was riding on the tube and seeing the boats and bridges on the river, red buses and Big Ben . DLR is also worth a ride, as they can sit up front and "drive". They loved Tower Bridge, as if you walk across the road, you can stand with one foot either side of the opening. The high walkway is waste of money imo. A trip along the river on a boat would be popular too.

They really enjoyed climbing The Monument too, but that was particularly relevant to DS1 at the time, as they been doing the Fire at school.

Are you travelling by train? If so, have a look at offers when you travel by train which has got loads of 2 for 1s and stuff, will save you a lot and give you some ideas (and I don't think you need to book in advance for most of them, just print off some vouchers and turn up).

How about the Aquarium? It's right next to the London Eye. You can also take a boat from the London Eye pier down to Greenwich. Then perhaps the Natural History Museum the second day... It's great, I imagine your DS will love it, especially if he likes dinosaurs! You can easily spend a whole morning or afternoon in there, so wouldn't plan to do much more than a couple of things each day.

yes, def go for the ducktour. we did it last year in the summer, prebooked over the internet.cost about 35 formyself, ds and dd -a jaded teenager, whose face lit up with excitement when we dived into the water next to the MI5 building and began bobbing down the thames!

and if you're lucky enough to get a really good guide they'll tell you all kinds of infio that the usual london tour operators don't know, miss out or can't be bothered about..

highly recommended.

You could easily walk to Covent Garden from the London Eye (or get a bus from not too far away) to go to the London Transport Museum - my DS (2) loves it and there's a picnic area, cafe and loads of interactive stuff.

Another good one for kids (with loads of interactive stuff) is the Science Museum. Great for kids of all ages.

If the weather is good, I totally recommend the Princess Diana Memorial playground in Hyde Park (over Lancaster Gate side) - its got tonnes for kids to play with (including a pirate ship, teepees etc.) and is tonnes of fun.

if you are going to the natural history museum you might find big queues going into the dinosaur area - you are best doing it first thing if you can and making sure that as soon as you get in to the museum go straight ahead and then turn left .. or you will find yourselves standing for ages waiting to get in there!
