arriving at manchester airport via rail

has anybody done this, i fly out of manchester at 6.30am on tuesday, train would arrive at manchester at 4.30am (check in time)
any experience of how long it takes to walk through from the train station to terminal 1, dont want to book it if i may end up running late for check-in

the train station is basically in the airport itself and it shouldnt take you more than about 10 mins (at the very most) to get from there to T1. there are lifts and travelators (sp?) to help if you have lots of luggage. it is pretty well laid out so you dont need to factor much time in for the transfer.
