Cheap weekend in Paris. Where to stay? How to get there?

I am thinking of taking DH and dd's away for a cheap weekend in the Autumn, we will need a quad room or interconnecting. I think it would be good to go Eurostar from St Pancras, what are your experiences? Any recommendations for a good cheap/midprice hotel? Is it better/cheaper to book eurostar/hotel package or book separately?

not sure about quad rooms or inter connecting but we stayed in the Hotel Du College de France. It was a fab place and so cheap. Great reviews on tripadvisor too!
We flew into Charles De Gaulle airport and took the train into St Michel and hotel was a five minute walk.

I would start with Expedia

you might get cheap accomodation and travel, but beware - food and drink are expensive once you get there!
