What's it like near Paris

We are thinking about renting a cottage near Paris (maybe near Fontainbleu) using our Tesco Clubcard vouchers. We would like to spend a couple of days at Disneyland + a day in Paris.

What else is there to do round there? and what is the countryside like - if it is very built up dh will not be a happy man

We are camping next week so would rather do the cottage thing - but open to all suggestions - and if it isn't very nice - can you suggest a nice part of France to visit that is on;ly about a 3 hour drive (max) from Calais.

Depends which direction near to Paris.

Monet's garden at Giverny is very nice, that's West-ish, opposite side to Disney

There's Versailles, which is worth seeing.

We've stayed near Beauvais, which was okay, reasonable countryside, nothing spectacular though.

Chambres D'Hotes (b&b) can be a good budget option, some places have converted barns/outhouses for guests, which might be easier with children in tow.
