sewing needles allowed?

I know knitting needles aren't allowed, nor are (of course) scissors but can you take an embroidery needle on an airplane?

I'd pack it in the suitcase rather than in hand luggage.

When you say "worth a try" do you mean trying to take it in your hand luggage? If so, I think that would be foolish. Phone your airline and ask them.

They won't even let you take a metal nail file, so I doubt a needle which does have a sharp point would be allowed!
