Monarch airlines - is it worth paying for seats together. We have 2 children in a party of 5 will they allow the children to sit with at least one adult or not?

That is it really. I have so far not pre paid for seats togther but have the option to do so.

Would they really let a 4 year old and 7 year old sit on their own - the first time they have flown? Us adults aren't bothered about being together, as long as each child has an adult with them iyswim.

So should I try and pay for a seats together now (flight in 2 weeks) or wait till we get to the airport and see what they offer us?

A friend and I paid £14 each this summer to sit next to each other.....when logically only one of us should have had to be subject to this robbery, not us both......

Just flown with Monarch to Preveza from manhexter and back. we were charter - although the plane seemed to be a mix of both charter and scheduled. We found that wer had pre-allocated seats together, so there wasn't a problme. This was despite the fact that the "regualr" plane was undergoing mantenance and our flight had to be split across two planes.

No-one seemed to be split up - and there was lots of kids on the flgiht.

Checkin at machester was 2 hours before the flight.

I like Monarch, apart from turning up to find out they'd overallocated seats and we almost got bumped off the flight (scheduled flight). Hence always pay to pre-book seats. Preferable to losing a days holiday waiting for the next flight.

I just checked our flight and their are 5 seats left! So atm not full, but thanks for the tip!

I hope it works out for you .
I am one that am disgusted by this pay to sit with your family and think that the CAA should enforce with all airlines that people travelling with children under say 12 ( if not a regular flier) should be seated with an adult incase of an emergency evacualtion or whatever. I think that in the case of low cost fight for a seat planes that people with children should be given priotity boarding before the speedy boarding/ pre paid ones. Not just for the safety of the children but for all on board.
In fact I would like to do something about it but not sure where to start.....Any ideas ? Maybe should try another post sorry !

We flew with Monarch a couple of weeks ago. Me, hubby and two kids aged 2 and 4. We had no problems sitting together. I object to paying the airline to reserve seats, they already charge extra for each bag put in the hold! I am not tight, but I feel it is their way of making even more money.

My advice, get to the airport early to check in and you will be fine. Thats what we did.
Enjoy your hol.

I wouldn't pay extra, they are not going to sit children that age away from you-apart from the safety aspect they can't cope with the food on their own!It is just a way of making money-they need your children next to you as much as you do!
