Can you bring 80% proof absinthe into UK from Teneriffe? DD has just called to ask.

She's on holiday in Teneriffe & wants to buy a bottle as a present for her boyfriend, but she's worried it may be illegal at that strength - does anyone know?

It was about 15 yrs ago when we tried from Prague (students). Can make you go blind apparently.

Did they let you bring it in?

Of course 15 years ago Prague wasn't EU & Teneriffe is.

I have to say I am strongly advising DD against it.....

No - they stopped the guy at customs and took it away - he did declare it though. Didn't charge him or anything. He was going to plead ignorance but his conscience got the better of him at the last moment LOL.
