We're going to the USA during the summer hols and dh says we ought to take a week's worth of nappies for the toddler, and enough night nappies for dd for the whole fortnight!

How can I prove to him that we will be able to buy Pyjama Pants or the equivalent over there?

Not only do they have them but they're cheaper too.

lol. Let him pack them, then you can do lots of shoppign at cheap outlet stores to refill the suitcases for the flight home.
