overnight stay in Portsmouth

Can anyone recommend a family hotel close to the ferry port in Portsmouth (closer the better, early start!) for an overnight stay?

was going to say the Toby Cavery, but it's a bit out of town, theres one more or less opposite actually, it's called the travel lodge, no is:

0870 191 1707

it's just off the rudmore round about, the ferry port is the other side of it.

I've not been in myself to that one but it's prob the closet one I think.
