What kind of hotels have you stayed in if you have 3+ kids? And dont want them in the room with you?

Dh and I want to do a European holiday next year (as we have just been to Aus to stay with his family and its a loooooong way with 3 kids under 4).

I've looked at villas in Mallorca, France, Italy etc but they all seem exorbitantly expensive at the end of June/early July (one last year of the luxury of going outside the school holidays) plus the cost of flights on "cheapy" airlines is the smae for the kids as it is for us!

When I try to find nice hotels and put in that we are 2 adults and 3 kids, they all come up with "sorry we do not have any accommodation for you". So my question is - anyone done a good quality beach hol anywhere in Europe with 3 children (mine will be - DTs 4 and DD 2 then), ideally not having them in the same room as you? If so where did you go and was it excruciatingly expensive? And more to the point, would you recommend it?

Thanks in advance!

Try getting two rooms with interconnecting doors. Often possible with hotel chains but you will need to ring them or email as the info is not always on web sites.

Have you tried calling up Holiday Inns? That's where we stayed last couple of times. We had the kids in with us (3 of us each in two double beds one time! ) but they do have adjoining rooms. They are normally abotu as cheap as you can get.

How about a junior suite?

also, where are you looking at the villas? we usually find them on villarenters.com. We usually don't pay more than £300 a week. They have villas all over the place. this looks lovely for France.

Italy

I like shopping for hols! I think I could be tempted to try Italy next year. Only been for a quick visit there.

I am sure a self catering villa must be cheaper than a hotel. When our 3DCs were younger we always booked a house/villa through private villas websites then plane/train/drive separately. Works out much cheaper than those villas per person deals. And you could just get a small one or flat/apartment with two bedrooms and that should be even cheaper.
