BIL & SIL want to go on holiday with us in 2010.

they have a son who would be 8

my twins will be 17.

2 years away allows them to budget.

this will be their holiday of a lifetime - as they probably wilnver go abroad again.

DH & I like to get pissed and out children are older - and daughter is snobby.

However they were thinking florida - dusneyland or their now 6 year old - but i would quite frankly eat my own arse

dh and i usualy go camping in france - we usually read all day and get drunk at nigh - te children are left to their own devices.

However BIL needs to be active - lounging around is not for him.

however SIL is erm....not ...erm...sophisticated? usually unaware of social faux pas.

so where does that leave me
oh and dh hates flying - but is willing to do a shortish flight ( europe)

i hate sailing - no cruises.

it seems bloody impossible.

i was thinking villa in spain - then everyone can be themselves

but i have been to spain twice and hated it
i hate package holidays -so completely not my thing AT ALL.

arggh

are you stumped?

It sounds an unworkable disaster waiting to happen.

unknownrebelbang · 06/07/2008 23:28

No advice, but good luck.

You'll need it!

ChippyMinton · 06/07/2008 23:29

why do they want to go with you?

Tortington · 06/07/2008 23:39

i think they aren't confident enough to go on their own

i like them very much they are living with us at the moment - so there won't be the shock of being together for elongated periods or anything.

Florida beach resort sounds like a good compromise. They could drive up to disney on day trips.

I would hate it myself....

Tortington · 07/07/2008 00:26

flight too long

but thanks for the suggestion xxx

any more?

Greece?
sun - rest - fun- sightseeing

MissingMyHeels · 07/07/2008 00:31

Few days in Disneyland Paris and then rest of hols on outskirts of Paris? BIL can do stuff like get train in and sightsee, you can read and get drunk, kids can do either.

Prufrock · 07/07/2008 00:31

Could you not still go camping , or a static caravan place, in france, but go to one that has more organised kids activities to suit their 8 year old. I'm sure taht s. of F. has lots of campsites near water parcs and stuff if they want to be active

MissingMyHeels · 07/07/2008 00:35

Oooooh or what about a cruise?

MissingMyHeels · 07/07/2008 00:38

Cruise

noddyholder · 07/07/2008 08:39

Greece is heaven on earth custy esp the islands.1 week or two?If two fly to athens and get boats to a couple of islands there is loads to do although I am like you lie on the beach reading and drink wine all night. Not too expensive and really beautiful. The cyclades are lovely esp naxos and paros which snobby daughtwer will love.

ChopsTheDuck · 07/07/2008 08:43

you can do spainw ithout it being a package holiday. That way you can do your sitting and getting pissed and they have theme parks. iF you rent a private villa it's completely different.

whooosh · 07/07/2008 08:56

Sitges?
Great beaches for the little ones,Barcelona only 30 mins away on lovely train for some "life" and shops for snobby daughter.
Great bars,short flight.....

Tortington · 07/07/2008 09:19

thanks all.

I have been to disneyland paris twice, hate it - but yeah- they would love it - kinda be the holiday of a lifetime for them - but i don't really want to go back to the same site.

i like the villa near Barcelona idea. oh yes, but i don't think that would be their great holiday of a lifetime.

hmmmmmmmmmm.

OMG - just had a thought.

what is that themepark place in spain....portaventura?

what are your thoughts? anyone been?

OP posts:
TwoToTango · 07/07/2008 09:44

Was looking at Thomson Alfesco, seem quite good - not actually been on one though.

Tortington · 07/07/2008 09:47

am thoroughlly taken with the portaventura idea - staying in a hotel on site

any experiences?

at sitges
My parents love Barcelona so I suggested a few days in Sitges for a change.........It turned out to be a very gay partyzone in August.
And they happened to be in a very gay hotel, luckily with a couple of floors reserved for straight people like them lost in translation.

I'm still in fits thinking about it. ROFL!!!!
But they did have fun.
