A 7-seater with acceleration - an oxymoron?

I need to replace my Mitsubishi Spacewagon. I chose it as it seats 5 humans comfortably with dogs in the back but 7 humans if needed (with dogs left at home), is not as high as MPVs and drives pretty well. What on earth can I get now that meets those criteria? Any ideas anyone?

We have a C8 and pretty sluggish to be honest. We've also got a Touran and that is quite nippy, feels like driving a small car.

bandgeek · 05/07/2008 21:23

I found my Zafira to be fairly nippy. It wasn't too big either.

Bet the mercades' can move.
My mum has a Merc vaneo that seats 7 and that's ok, but there are more car like models out there too.

I have a 52 reg 2.0 dti Zafira and it's really quick (except that I now drive it like an old lady, in the interests of economy - 45+mpg - & saving the planet )

Same size/layout as the Spacewagon I think, with possibly slightly more space behind the rear seats.

our old galaxy (well it was the seat alhambra) was v nippy. It had 6 gears and was lovely to drive. Think we got one with quite a big engine. I was sad to see it go tbh.

I've got a Grand Voyager (go on, shoot me now) - it's a 3L, petrol, automatic and it's super fast. Surprised a few people in it actually (not that I'm a boy racer you understand!).

Gobbledigook · 05/07/2008 21:36

But if you get one you'll be suddenly mounting the kerb, using your mobile while driving, running over small children and all the while f*cking up the planet to boot - so perhaps best to avoid?!

WendyWeber · 05/07/2008 21:37

You're very defensive about your gas-guzzling 3-litre automatic Grand Voyager, GDG

Gobbledigook · 05/07/2008 21:39

Just bored/working. I have no guilt about it - I love it to pieces but am a sarcastic old so and so.

Gobbledigook · 05/07/2008 21:40

But you're right - it is gas guzzling and that's why I only use it when I have to and have taken to killing myself on the school run (which I have to do 3 times a day which amounts to walking 9 miles a day - at least I'll soon be a size zero).

LongDeadMotherofHarryP · 05/07/2008 22:50

Thanks for your suggestions. Keep em coming. Borrowed a Voyager once and loathed it. Can't stand automatics and kept on falling asleep as it was too comfortable!
