Barcelona - going to Nou Camp, hotel near there or Ramblas?

Hi, never been to Barca before, going with DH/DS (8) and other family with 2 kids. Wanted to know, location-wise, best place to stay there, really.

Flying into Girona on a Sunday, going to see match on Monday night, flying home Tuesday night.

DH (who has never been there either) seems to think we should be staying near the Nou Camp but I think differently, what say everyone else (thinking along the lines of more things to do near Las Ramblas, trawling luggage around as we will have to check out of hotel on monday morning but won't be flying until late afternoon.

Thanks!

No idea about hotels but there is a fab bar and restaurant on Las Ramblas called - The Attic I think - it is fab - you can sit on the decked out roof garden and the food is super and there is a smashing club inside for a bit of tripping the light fantastic!

Sorry gone all Jeeves and Wooster all of a sudden!

Ramblas is quite noisy at night as it is the main drag for all the nightlife.

I like staying a bit further uptown on Passeig de Gracia, round placa de catalunya or that sort of area. It's a little bit quieter but still very central and close the the Ramblas.

I would look at apartments if I was you, there are some very good value ones available, much more reasonable than a lot of the hotels.

Nou Camp is a bit out of the centre, so I'd stay closer to the centre.
Are you flying Ryanair? Did you know there is a bus which connects with the flights and drops you in the centre?

I agree, the Nou Camp is quite a bit from the city centre so I'd look a bit further in but not at Las Ramblas as it can be very busy and noisy.

thank you - chippy, didn't know about the bus, is it ryanair exclusive? coudn't see anything on their site. Where does it drop you off?

so if not Las Ramblas, where would you suggest?

some info about the bus here

I found an aprtment through these people.we were just off las ramblas, which was very convenient, behind near the market and theatre.

Hi Jodee!!!

Check out www.ownersdirect.co.uk too for more apartments.

You definitely want to be more central than Nou Camp! Agree though that near Ramblas can be noisy - but loads to see around there.

Barcelona is not a huge city and there is a good metro system so really you don't need to stay on the ramblas to be central. We stayed in barceloneta which is on the beach and could walk to the centre of the city in half an hour.
