I really want to go away ideally reasonable weather culture nice food not a party place . Not Spain or Portugal happy to do long haul .

ive been lucky enough to go to lots of places but im quite stuck for ideas.
ideally I need to go next week as well
I’ve left it too late I think

Japan! Singapore! China! Anywhere in Asia!

Thejugglestruggle · 26/10/2026 19:43

Definitely recommend Marrakech. Amazing food, culture, surprisingly short flight, decent chance of sun

Places I’ve enjoyed at this time of year have been Doha, Dubai, Mauritius and South Africa.

I've been to Barbados, Hong Kong and a twin centre of Langkawi & Penang at this time of year and loved them all.

SabrinaThwaite · 26/10/2026 21:56

I know you said not Portugal, but the Alentejo at this time of year is great. Great food and wine.

Morocco is amazing.

Marrakesh too, Till they wrap a snake around your neck. Yikes!

Did get lovely hennaed hands though.

I was there solo and found a lovely Riad rooftop terrace. Everyone smoking hashish and me lol.

My son was in China, through Hong Kong to Chendu.

He said it's an Asian version of Manhattan. Hong Kong that is.

Blueuggboots · 26/10/2026 22:49

Guadeloupe.

Morocco would be worth considering, especially Marrakech, Fes and a few days in the Atlas Mountains. Great food, lots of culture and generally lovely weather at this time of year. If you fancy long haul, Japan or Vietnam could also be good options. I’d check flight prices and availability first, but I don’t think you’ve necessarily left it too late!

Madiera. It was the first stop on our cruise a couple of years ago and we would love to go back.

South America - pick anywhere you’ve not been.

bababamama · 27/10/2026 17:08

Following op, I’m looking to get away in a couple of weeks though alas max 7 days. Morocco is on my radar, but can’t find a hotel without significant amounts of negative reviews

Goodmorningeveryone26 · 27/10/2026 17:09

I always google ‘where has good weather in [month] and go from there

When we've stayed in Marrakech, we've always booked a riad through airbnb. Always excellent and usually come with a chef for breakfast!!

LetMeGoogleThat · 27/10/2026 18:25
