going on holiday...what have I forgotten to pack?

We're off on holiday next week, to a family wedding in Manchester for the weekend, then a self-catering cottage in the lakes for a week. So, what have I forgotten to pack? What do you wish you'd taken on holiday/glad you took and couldn't have lived without? Dd is 15 months old and I'm nearly 7 months pregnant. We're driving and have a reasonable but not limitless boot in our car.
No idea is too stupid for the preg-head...

Well you ain't going to the North Pole so wouldn't worry. I believe they have shops in Manchester.

carrieon · 01/07/2008 20:38

Just looking for a bit of help with my packing list...don't want to spend the first few days of holiday saying to the In-laws 'can we find a mothercare/boots/(insert name of shop selling essential item)'

Dont forget your hospital notes and your midwife's telephone number.
Also lots of colouring things/toys/snacks for your DD during the wedding!

carrieon · 01/07/2008 20:50

I would so have forgotten that!!! I think its the wedding/holiday combo that has thrown me! (scampers off to find notes...)

i would take those hard to find snacks that you get cravings for randomly (i crave oatmeal pies) and a few secret treats for your dd. also maybe some pregna lingerie? just to spice things up if you've got a minute and some lush bath stuff to pamper yourself after a nice day

Ok, so you said no idea was too stupid .....I went away over Christmas and forgot to take dd's formula.

And we had a weekend away and dh forgot to pack dd's buggy and she wasn't walking.

Ok seriously then. Open up word. Start a list eg: heading for each person unless you are lucky enough to have a DP that is able to do his own packing, mine gave it up after honeymoon
Kid 1
Nappies
Wipes
vests x 3
tops x 3
bottomsx 3
books x 3

You
knickers
socks
celeb gossip mags
moisturiser

etc

Then print it off. Take it with you. Hand write on anything you wish you;d brought with you. re type up list when you get home.

next time you go away again. review list and off you go again.

my tips are never take more than 4 outfits for anyone or you will have too much luggage. Utilise laundry facilities at hotel or whereever you are staying

dd's shoes! They weren't on the list...thank you! And I will take some formula incase we run out of milk...good plan.

Wedding gift involves going shopping for one. Aagh, what to buy! (scampers off again to find details of on-line gift list).
I do have a card though, must pack that.

This is so helpful everyone!

baby monitor (in case you want to sit in the garden after DD gone to bed)

Camera (and charger!)

carrieon · 01/07/2008 21:07

I do have a printed list, but it was last updated with dd was 4 months old and I wasn't pg so you guys are helping me write the upgrade! I love the '4 outfits per person' rule. I know there's a washing machine at the holiday cottage.
Oh I hope to goodness I get time to read those gossip magazines

Mutt I don't actuallyu do that. bt Iknow someone who does and swears by it.

I start a new list everytime and always take too many clothes for everyone. and too many toys.

TAke NO toys, they don;t need them and woueld prefer to empty your handbag out on kitchen floor anyway and drawer all over the newspaper.

Surfermum · 01/07/2008 21:13

That's right - I used to take tons of toys for dd. One visit I forgot them and she was absolutely fine!
