Please can anyone recommend anywhere they have been in Austria?

Lots of swimming options, ideally a therme
Loads of mountains, great views, romantic, special, "once in a lifetime" type experience
Brilliant service, great food
Options for cafés/walking/things to do during the day, maybe day trips
Ideally accessible by public transport but may hire a car
5 night break sometime between February and June

There seems to be a lot of options so trying to narrow it down.

Looking at Aqua Dome in Tyrol but any other suggestions would be great

I've not been to the Aqua Dome, but the Tauern Spa in Kaprun looks very similar. It is located between Kaprun and Zell am See, surrounded by high snow-capped mountains with the beautiful Zell lake at one end of the valley.

June would be an excellent time to visit as it is just before the summer season really gets underway, but the weather will still most likely be warm and sunny. February and March are very busy, not only with the hotel guests but also with day guests who combine a trip to the Spa with a day on skis, and in April and May most of the local attractions and cable cars are closed.

Zell am See is easily reached by public transport (train or #260 bus) from Salzburg - and public transport is free for tourists if you get the Mobility Ticket from your hotel, which you can receive by email in advance so that you can use it on the journey from Salzburg. The cable cars will be open in June so you can walk the paths at the top of the mountain in Zell am See. For a quieter day you can visit the lake and walk along the promenade, have morning coffee at the Grand Hotel or take a sightseeing boat ride on the lake. If you ride up the cable cars at Kaprun/Kitzsteinhorn you reach the Top Of Salzburg at 3,000m where there will still be snow in June and from where the views on a clear day are stunning.

Thank you so much, that is so helpful! Especially about when to go. I think it would be amazing swimming outside in the snow, but am a bit wary on ice and snow and think would enjoy the nicer weather more. Thank you very much.

Hotel Sacher - the one above Innsbruck. It is incredible

Kaprun/Zell am See as has already been mentioned. The Salzkammergut region and also Bad Gastein is a beautiful spa town.

Bad Gastein - traditional elegant spa town, surrounded by beautiful mountains. Easy to reach from Salzburg by public transport.

Fussen area, the castles are beautiful and we had a lovely carriage ride. It’s Germany but near Austrian border

I loved the Falkensteiner we stayed in, it was so welcoming and they make a huge fuss for birthdays!

Innsbruck for 2 nights in a gorgeous boutique hotel and then 3 nights near or ideally on Achensee. Just absolutely stunning. I’d do that holiday every year forever if I could!!

In June the snow will only be at the very top of Kitzsteinhorn at 3000m, not down in the valley where the Spa is located. Nor will there be snow at the top of the mountain in Zell am See at 2000m. If you travel in February or March there will likely be snow everywhere, the streets will be cleared but can still be slippery.

As well as the big Spa complexes like the Tauern Spa and the Aqua Dome, many hotels in the mountain resorts have spa facilities, which in Austria are called "Wellness" areas, and typically include one or more pools, saunas, steam rooms, massage rooms and a gym. You can google "Wellness hotel" - for example, a couple that I've experienced are the Adler Resort in Hinterglemm or the ValSaa AlpinResort in Saalbach.

There is a new Falkensteiner hotel being developed in Hinterglemm which replaces the luxury Alpine Palace Hotel which has been partly demolished. If it has the same quality as their other hotels it will be something very special.

Any town with "Bad" in the name denotes a Spa town - e.g. Bad Gastein - where there will be hotels with spa facilities and often a public spa complex.

Thank you so much everyone, this is really helpful. I watched that TV show too!

I think the issue is narrowing it down as looks to be a lot of amazing places. And also trying to decide how much to spend.
