2 weeks long haul in April

I'm looking for recommendations for a 2 week holiday over Easter next year! I think Europe is out as it will be a bit cold so looking for more long haul destinations. Currently considering Southern California, South Africa, Costa Rica and Brazil but happy with other recommendations. I would go to Thailand but the place I want to visit is sold out so probably leave that until the year after.
It will be for me, my DH and our son who will be 9. We enjoy walking, food, nice views, theme parks and waterparks, cities and beaches (so a complete mix).

Two weeks in Kenya would be bliss. You have the amazing beaches at Diani Beach area, safari, great rift valley.

April is not great for Kenya as it's one of the rainiest months. But I'd definitely vote for Kenya otherwise!!! Went there in October last year and it was magical. In April I've been to Cape Verde, Guadeloupe, Cuba, Costa Rica... all wonderful. Type your dates in Skyscanner and put "everywhere" as a destination, then filter by continents, direct flights and any other criteria that you may have.

I know you are probably looking for more sophisticated ideas, but Orlando is lovely in April….

Where in Thailand were you looking at - we’ve done 2-3 Easters in Khao Lak and loved it

@Lindtnotlint Orlando would be amazing (we've just been this year) but the flight prices are crazy for Easter, probably because we're quite late.

@Jfw82 In Thailand we wanted to go to Elephant Hills (we had it all booked this year but got cancelled a week before due to the war in the middle east, that was gutting). Its sold out for our dates next year so I'm tempted to plan for the following year and re-do our trip.

We went to speak to a travel agent yesterday and we went through lots of places and weather and think we've narrowed it down to South Africa and Costa Rica (and maybe Bali) so need to start planning and pricing it up 😁
