Air China compensation

Has anyone managed to get flight cancellation compensation from Air China? There is no address or email to send a claim to, and when I contact them they direct me to the phone helpline. I have to stay on hold for ages with no answer.

Has anyone successfully filed a claim? Please let me know where to send it and any tips.

(Not interested in using one of those companies that does it on my behalf)

What happened?? I am about to book with them!!

Ngl they're not great! We got to the airport and were waiting to board. One hour past scheduled departure time they said flight cancelled due to technical issues.

It’s still their responsibility to get you to your destination. Did they do anything to assist you people as passengers?.

When flying from the UK on any airline, EU261 (as transcribed into UK law post-Brexit) applies. If flying into the UK, it only applies for a UK-based airline. At that point it will either be Chinese consumer law, or whatever the airline wants to give you.

Yes, I received my refund within 12 hours. I booked an emergency flight home and the first flight didn’t leave me enough time at Shanghai to change planes, collect my bag and check in so when I was at the I wasn’t able to board the flight.

Sorry I didn’t receive compensation, just a full refund.

They put us on a flight the next day and offered hotel accommodation etc till then. It was from Heathrow. I've checked everything and yes we're entitled to UK261 max compensation (they issued a cancellation certificate, admitting liability) but they're being very sneaky about how to get the bloody compensation!
