For a change from going for cosmetic surgery?🤣

HobgoblinNorFoulFiend · 15/10/2026 09:49

I wouldn’t go to Torquay never mind all the way to Türkiye

PollyBell · 15/10/2026 09:49

Desperation and they want a souvenir to bring home that won't affect baggage allowance?

PollyBell · 15/10/2026 09:49

Duplicate post

Hoppinggreen · 15/10/2026 09:52

They know its all fake, the men know its all fake but as long as nobody is being abused and/or thinks its true love then I don't see the harm. Its basically sex work
Wouldn't be my cuppa but men have done it for years all over the world and will always do it

DrFoxtrot · 15/10/2026 09:53

God, who could be arsed with this 😂 travelling all that way for attention from shit men.

When men go abroad for sex they’re filthy abusive exploitative sex tourist perverts, but it’s empowering, erotic and great when women do it. Just one of the many double standards on here ☺️

(Just for avoidance of doubt I have male and female friends who’ve done this and I wouldn’t recommend any of them to others!)

They love the flattery and the ‘charm’ and fool themselves that it is real

A reaction to the way women are just written off in later life , insulted, reviled ‘old bag / hag’ etc

Meanwhile women in their 60s+ have freedom, a lust for life, ready to have a good time after years of work and domestic drudgery

A fit dark eyed Turkish guy making eyes at her… not hard to understand.

Lomonald · 15/10/2026 09:55

I am not clicking a link. But I know an older woman Dd went to school with her granddaughter, anyway she sold her house moved to Turkey to marry her very young boyfriend and he scammed her out of thousand of £s.

Can you point this out on this thread or in Julie B’s article?

SilverPink · 15/10/2026 10:04

I know an older woman who lives in turkey, now I know why she moved there

Tromh · 15/10/2026 10:06

This doesn't just happen in Turkey. Gambia is notorious for it too.

And areas of Jamaica

Eyesopenwideawake · 15/10/2026 10:14

Any particular resort? (asking for a friend).

MoistVonL · 15/10/2026 10:15

How revolting! Prostitution is still wrong when it's women doing the exploiting. Poverty drives people to desperate measures.

"Valerie" is a bloody moron to think these young men are doing it because they find older women attractive.

Seziah · 15/10/2026 10:37

I think for the same reason that some men go to Thailand on their own. They get attention/sex and the men or women get money and someone who will take them to nice places or buy them things.
I used to have a male friend who moved to Thailand. He said he knew he was unattractive, but out there he got lots of attention. Didn’t matter to him that his girlfriends were in it for the money

Regards the “when men do it it’s gross but when women do it’s girl power double standards blah blah blah” … o can see this to a degree however if we ever get to a post when men and boys are coerced and/or forced into the sex industry to be sold and often raped/abused as a result of this I think that argument will have more legs.

Men who buy into any part of the sex trade are actively contributing to the widespread attack on women and girls and it’s in no way comparable

I couldn’t see the whole of the link. Did it mention a particular travel agent? - asking for a friend 😂😂😂

And Dominican Republic.

Sex tourism is pretty grim, whether it’s men or women doing it, so we shouldn’t apply double standards. There is zero difference between middle aged western women shagging young Turkish or Gambian men & middle aged western men shagging young Thai or Filipina women.

But you’re the only one who has said this. You know the things in your head are not the same as anything anyone has actually said, right??

Ooo this is a coincidence. The first I knew of "Unherd" was just last night, in a satirical novel by my favourite author Jonathan Coe.

I thought he'd made it up as it sounds like an amusingly heavy-handed anti-woke pun on "following the herd".

Surprised to see it's real. But it obviously has a very anti "woke" agenda and I don't believe its intentions are good or even neutral. Is this article women-hating ragebait?
