Preparing formula for a flight

We are going on holiday in 2 weeks with our 5 month old and I’m trying to work out how we will be able to feed her on the flight out and return. Our flight is at 7am for 4 hours so we’ll likely need 4 bottles from airport/flight/transfer etc.

There is probably a simple solution but my head can’t get round how we will be able to make the bottles up. I assume we can take our rapid cool with us (empty) but are there places we can get hot water from in the airport/flight without having to order a tea with no tea bag (😂)?

We fly from Birmingham if that makes any difference…

Can anyone who has flown with a formula fed baby give me their experiences/tips please?

I bought the ready made bottles for travel and had the usual powder in the suitcase. Took sterilised empty bottles in sandwich bags. My children would drink their milk at room temperature though and I know not all babies like that

Ready made bottles are your friend here. Just pour them into your clean bottles

It’s worth checking with your airline and Birmingham Airport beforehand, as they can advise what’s available and what you can take through security. Ready-to-feed formula cartons might be the easiest option for the flight, as you don’t need to worry about finding hot water. Just make sure you have enough for the journey and a few spares in case of delays. It’s much less stressful when you’re not trying to organise everything around hot water!

ready made formula again here. but we were also prepared to take a flask and the small boxes which have compartments for premeasured formula plus a rapid cool. I would have then swirled out the rapid cool with some water from the flask.

You don’t always need to do that. Just twist and go!

Another vote for pre made bottles! They just get checked at security so make sure you place them in an easy to reach place all together (I forgot recently and it was a faff!) But with my oldest we did two 6.5 hour flights to viatnam on powdered formular a year or so ago and its easy to get boiling water from any restaurant in the airport (mums go on holiday all the time) and same on the airplane, you can ask for boiling water directly in the bottle up to the ml you need, they're always so accommodating.
