Holiday destination August 2027

Need some help finding a sunny hot destination for next August we’re family of 4 with children who will be 12 & 9. We absolutely love Greece but we’ve been to Greece the last 3 years so preferably like somewhere different next year for a change. We’ve visited

We tend to like bed & breakfasts mainly more than your big AI’s

Must haves:
Pool
Near a beach
Near to a town up to 20-25 min walk away

Budget?

I'd choose a country first,
Then the area
Then see if accommodation you like is available.

You don't need me to tell you that since you will be going in August, are you prepared for 40D+ heat every day now? Maybe you love that!

So off the top of my head -
France - Basque coast is great, plenty of B+B
Spain - San Sebastian/Santander area/Tarifa/Cadiz coast
Italy - Puglia/Sicily/Sardinia
Croatia - islands
Majorca/Menorca

Menorca

Have a look at Cala’n Bosch in Menorca or Cavtat in Croatia.

Cala’n Bosch has lovely beaches, a marina and plenty of restaurants, so it’s great for families. Cavtat has more of a traditional seaside town feel, with lovely waterfront walks and restaurants for an evening out.

If you’re open to somewhere a bit further afield, Qingdao in China might be worth a look too. August is beach season there, and Shilaoren Beach is a popular spot with hotels nearby that have swimming pools. Qingdao also has some lovely coastal walks, an interesting old town and fantastic seafood.

The only downsides are that August can be quite busy, and it’s obviously a much longer journey from the UK.

Puglia, Italy

I really didn’t like Cala’n Bosch. Very commercial.

That’s fair. Cala’n Bosch is quite touristy, especially around the marina with all the restaurants, bars and shops. It does feel more like a purpose-built holiday resort than a traditional Spanish town.
