THINGS TO DO NEAR YORK THIRSK

Looking for some recommendations of things to do near York/Harrogate/Thirsk way for kids please?

Any must dos - age 9 and 5.

Visit the World of James Herriot - obviously 😉. And a trip to Grassington, if they’re filming when you go, even better.
Of course, there is every chance your children are not as obsessed with that show as mine…. 🤣

Thirsk:
Monk Park Farm.
Spilmans probably have an event on.

Harrogate:
Mother Shiptons Caves

York:
Railway system
Castle museum
Yorvik museum
Chocoate story
Walk the walls

As mentioned plus Forbidden corner, Fountains abbey, Richmond castle

Yorkshire Wildlife Park is worth a look if you don’t mind a bit of a drive. For something closer to York, the National Railway Museum is great for both ages and it’s free. If you’re near Thirsk, Monk Park Farm could be a good one for the younger children too.
