Holiday to Lanzerote booked months ago.. now need to add another person

Booked 3 adults two bedroom apartment, one double bed and second bedroom has two single beds.. booked through love holidays for me dh and dd age 17
Now my ds age 19 wants to come too but when I asked chat GPT he said it’s easier to leave our booking as it is and to book DS flights separately and to email hotel directly to explain our situation and to ask if it would be possible to add him as the 4th person when we arrive at the hotel depending on their answer

Ds is working and can pay for himself within reason ..there is a spare bed and apartment is stated as for 4 adults so would this be allowed? Has anyone done this?
The thought of us arriving at the hotel and they won’t allow him to stay in our apartment is worrying as a one bed apartment is over a €1000 for 4 nights which he wouldn’t be able to pay if he can’t stay with us
Anyone any experience with this? TIA

Did you book as a package? What board basis?

The easiest thing to do is probably email the hotel and ask to add another person, explain the room is under occupied anyway so it wouldn't push you over the limit for the room (unless it only accommodates 2 adults 2 children for example). If you have meals included then you might have to pay a surcharge to add him to the booking.
Then book his flights - make sure there's a seat available on your flight, often package flights can be full or even overbooked!

Actually got a quick response from hotel and they can’t do it as it was booked through love holidays so we need to go through them or book him separate

What is the transfer arrangement? If a full package with a transfer he needs to be on that a well as his flight. I'm booked on a solo jet2 package next week and there is a chance DP might come and if so, I can just add him in the app.

But if you haven’t booked a transfer, you'll just have to book him his flight, and amend the number of people on the apartment booking, which will probably attract an admin fee.

That’s surprising unless the hotel is exclusive to Love Holidays.

I recently did this as there were 3 of us planning to share a room but I was flying in from a different airport. Booked my flight separately and paid the hotel direct for my all inclusive. The tour operator quoted a price to do it through them that was so high that for another £150 we could have booked a fourth person!
