December Holiday for toddlers in UK

Hi, does anyone have any recommendations for holiday places in the UK suitable for a 3 year old?

Hoping to do a few nights away in December and looking for places that have some onsite activities - swimming pool, softplay etc. looked at Center Parcs but their prices are eye wateringly high and was hoping for other recommendations.

Ideally looking for Midlands or the South.

TIA

I was about to say Center Parcs! It really is magical at that age for Christmas.
Have you looked at Bluestone in Pembrokeshire? I think they put on a lot of Christmassy things for little ones but a bit less full on than CP.

Butlins!

strugglinguphill · 02/10/2026 16:25

Or any haven parks, my little one enjoys the entertainment. I too looked at CP but the cost is eye watering!

AIiswatchingyou · 02/10/2026 16:30

Agree Butlins is a big hit with small children.

Mummyboy1 · 02/10/2026 16:37

Was going to say Butlins!

Friends love The Mole in Devon but I have no idea how expensive it may be in December.

They went with older children so you may need to check how good the activities are for toddlers.

Another vote for butlins.

Woolly Grange? It’s pricey but might be less than CP.

We did a Parkdean resort in the summer and my kids (9 and 5) are desperate to go back!

We had a wonderful holiday here many years ago: https://tredethick.com
We also enjoyed a couple of toddler breaks at Butlins.
Quite different experiences but we would recommend both!

If you're looking for something more modestly prices, a few of the Havens are still open, not all though, and have christmassy activities.

Holidaytips · 03/10/2026 09:50

We've never done it in December but as PP's have said... Butlins Butlins Butlins! I know it has a bit of a rep but it's cheap but loads to do - rides (for big and small), soft plays, shows, pool, playgrounds.

Haven Parks are good too, but again, never been in December.

Have you looked at Alton Towers? They do Christmas package holidays and it was brilliant when I took my DD a few years ago. CBeebies land, Santa visit, hotel stay with meals included, panto and then a full day in the waterpark. Absolutely brilliant.

Butlins also gets a vote from me too, the kids absolutely love it

hellospring26 · 03/10/2026 11:48

Agree with Butlins, my kids loved it. We only ever stayed in the hotel though ((Bognor, not sure if the others have hotels?). I would not stay in a chalet which is cheaper, assuming you are out of school holidays the hotel is relatively cheap,

Maybe too far for you but Gullivers world in Warrington is great for little ones. They do Christmas packages.

Thanks everyone for your great suggestions - I’ll check them out!

Someone I know took their kids to Lapland UK last year and said it was lovely, I’m not sure where it is though

It is lovely but it's a day trip not a holiday unfortunately.

Center Parcs prices move a lot day to day, and midweek breaks in early December are usually much cheaper than weekends or the week before Christmas.

Worth watching a few dates rather than taking the first quote. We used parcwatch.co.uk. You can pick a village and dates and it emails you when the price drops. If it's still too much, Bluestone (mentioned above) is lovely at that age too.

Look at Ribby hall! We done it last September but are now going this December! Lots to do
