Can anyone recommend a Canaries hotel?

Looking to go somewhere warm in February (not long haul) so thinking Tenerife/Gran Canaria (less breezy than the other canaries apparently)

Been looking at hotels and it’s making me dizzy….

So can anyone recommend an hotel that’s good for an adults holiday (but isn’t costing £1k plus pp self catering)…and has some facilities like ping pong/pool table/darts but isn’t a huge high rise hotel?

I’d prefer adults only but don’t mind if it’s somewhere unlikely to be overrun with toddlers.

If I search for adult only it seems to be throwing up very expensive spa hotels. Any recommendations? Would consider other countries but I’m not sure anywhere else that’s short haul is warm enough.

If you want to avoid high rise look at Lanzarote where they aren't allowed to build high rise.
Adults only hotels I've liked in the Canaries.
Barcelo Corralejo Bay in fuertaventura. Excellent food, lovely room, good location.
Iberostar Lanzarote Park has a separate adults only wing, restaurant and pool. Beautiful views, good location and very good food.

Sorry just seen you want self catering apartment not hotel.

Sorry no, I meant I’m happy with hotel it’s just some of them are £1k for a week self catering which I think is expensive. I’d happily pay that much if it was all inc.

I do like Lanzarote but it’s very breezy and I think may be on the cooler side in Feb, so was thinking South Tenerife or Gran Canaria might be more reliable weather wise.

I recently stayed at Santa Catalina in Las Palmas and it was one of the best hotels I have every stayed in. Very luxurious but not too expensive, we were very impressed given the price tag. The pool area is beautiful and if you book a suite (not too much more) you also get access to the roof top pool and spa. The breakfast was the best I have ever had. Also worth noting, I have high standards for hotels!

Both the mentioned hotels come up on searches for most expensive hotels for each of those resorts. I have found this typical of MN.

By this reasoning, maybe sort by highest price 🙄

Mr TravelON on FB. He does live posts from Lanzarote and other islands. Mostly Lanza. He shows you the various hotels. We found it quite interesting and helpful.

Canaries is expensive in winter especially Gran Canaria as it gets the best weather. The adult only places I know of would be over budget. For apartments I love Palm Oasis Maspalomas, or Cordial Mogan Valley in Mogan. Both will have kids around though if you're not going in midterm it will hopefully just be a few babies/toddlers.

Not sure how much it would cost but I think Tui Suite Blue Princess on Gran Canaria is what you are looking for

Looks lovely but I’m not paying nearly a grand for room only 😬

We had a really lovely time at Lopesan Baobab Resort. Really chilled out and lots of different quiet areas.

Paradise Park in Tenerife has a rooftop adults only pool. I've stayed there twice and it's lovely. It's all inclusive but can be pricey.

We've stayed a couple of times at the Cay beach Meloneras. If your apartment is away from the main building, there's another pool and it's quiet there. The people with kids seem to congregate near the bar/restaurant pools There are two near the bar end of the complex. Not too expensive either.

Have a look at the Radiison Blu in Costa Teguise. We loved the hotel, large rooms, big balcony with sunbeds, food a cut above similar hotels. Not so keen on Teguise, but it was OK. Oh, and only a short bus to Arricife for cocktails on top of the only high rise in Lanzarote.

You could look at Iberostar Sabila Costa Adeje. We had a fab break here this summer, B&B.

Has Costa Teguise gone downhill? We went years ago with the kids and it was a nice little resort then.

Only been to Gran Canaria but the Marina Suites and Bayview were both nice. Well landscaped.Good area off from the tacky middle but still he as views and close to the sea and beaches.

PlasticFiend · Yesterday 23:55

THB Lanzarote Beach is great. Right in the centre with easy access to the good attractions. Cant fault it. I would advise against Bluebay though, always riddled with cockroaches

PlasticFiend · Yesterday 23:58

Also I wouldn’t say Costa Teguise has gone downhill at all. Lots of experience over many years, and our last holiday in May of this year was absolutely lovely.

I second Marina Bayview in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria. Went in May and am going back again this November.

Don't bother with a deluxe room, get a room with a balcony. We asked to be moved upon arrival (effectively downgrading ourselves) but the deluxe room with an upstairs was dingy and disappointing. It also had a terrace rather than a balcony and not at all private.

We were moved to block A, it is very near the steps down to the little strip that has a couple of restaurants and supermarket and overlooks the pool. Like a pp said, it has nice views and away from the less desirable part. Adults only too.

Any of the Lopesan hotels in Meloneras Gran Canaria would fit the bill.
Boabab is more child friendly, but they big resorts so you can find somewhere quiet.
