Toulouse with an 11-year-old in October half term, any tips?

DH & I are considering a city break to Toulouse with DS who is 11 in October half term. His older brother is on a school trip so keen to make this a good trip as he usually likes being with his big brother (not stuck with boring parents!). There is a rugby match on so keen to go to that but looking at what other attractions there are. For those who have been would you recommend Cite de L’espace, Aeroscopia or Halle de la Machine? Was also thinking of a day trip to Carcassonne by train. Any tips from those who have been with tweens/ teens gratefully received!

I remember liking Cite de L’espace but I can’t remember the details. You can visit Airbus too, which was very good.

We don't have teen/tweens but Halle de la Machine is awsome, definitely book a ride on the minotaur as well.

If you like food Marche Victor Hugo is a good visit.

Also Carcassone is quite mad but probably good fun for a tween.

I love St Sernin and the Jacobins. But maybe not for a teenager. I found Carcassone really disappointing but it would be good for a day trip.

The natural history museum is very good. Cite de l’espace was great and it will be better if the French are not on holidays because it gets busy. Go early, it takes a long time. We went on a canal trip our kids really liked. There is a modern art museum our kids really enjoyed. It is a lovely city.

Oh yes Les Abbatoirs is a great museum.

We went to Toulouse this summer and loved it. It is a really attractive and buzzy city with enough to do for a good few days.

We went as a couple so our itinerary was more historic sight seeing and drinking/eating out than you many want but I think there is a lot for families as well.

We stayed very centrally just off Place Wilson - there are a lot of good value hotels in that area and it is an easy walk from the train station and to the main city centre sights. There is a decent tram network if you want to go further afield.

It is on the canal du midi so if the weather is good a canal boat cruise might be a fun thing to do. I think there are also boat trips along the Garonne river.
