I am coming up to London Friday for a gig at the church and looking for nice bars / street food to go early doors. Anyone have any tips? Ideally that caters for veggies and not too smart! Any tips would be gratefully appreciated this would be a rare night out!

Mare street market or broad street market. The dove is a nice pub in broad street area. Broad street market is on Saturdays and mare street market is on to Saturday 1.30pm. Rasputins and Empire pub are two Mare st venues I like. TBH, I’m more a Broadway market than Mare st girl, but that’s personal preference. There’s a nice place called 215 which is near V&A museum Bethnal Green.

Broad street I like just because there’s lots of good cheap street food options. Cat and Mutton is another good pub. Most places there are good. Victor Wynd museum of natural curiosities/last Tuesday society on Mare St is a museum plus bar. Then if you walk eg to Lauriston square/street, near Victoria Park, you have lots of places including Wells St market and eg the Empress pub and a posh fish and chip shop. To be fair, and I’m biased, my brother and his family and in-laws lived in that area did years, we never really had a bad experience. Even the main cafe in Vicky Park does lovely food and salads.

Love shack on Cambridge Heath rd is a good veggie vegan place. But the other places mentioned certainly do veggie options. Depending on timescale I’d do a day walk encompassing the canal, you can do that from Mile End part to Broadway market.
