Entering the US on British passport with little valid time left Urgent advice required!

Both the DDs hold passports which expire in Jan 09. We are travelling to the US at the end of Jul and will be there until the end of Aug. Does anyone know the minimum time remaining on a passport for entry to the US? Was worried it may be 6 months, in which case passports would have to be renewed pronto (esp as DD1 also going to France in 2 weeks time!).

According to US embassy web site, UK passport holders only have to have a passport that is valid for the duration of your stay and not for 6 months after your departure as it is for some countries.

No need for new passports.

I had read the immigration services website, and didn't find it that clear. I think they should be OK....hopefully!
