Hoping to go to Dubai for our family holiday in a couple of weeks with a 3yr old and a 6month old. Has anyone been recently to advise if you felt volatile etc. been several times to Dubai and other places in the UAE.

Do you not have any morals about the fact it has been built on exploited (slave) labour?
Whilst staying in your fancy hotel consider the fact it was built in 50 degree heat by workers with confiscated passports. Most of them work extreme hours and live in squalid conditions.

What kind of message are you sending to your children?

Why on earth do you want to go to Dubai?

I'm genuinely baffled.

With the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and Trump again threatening to annihilate Iran, a trip to Dubai with very young children would not even cross my mind.

No. Why would anyone? Even before.

There are other places with a similar vibe and none of the issues. I was recently in Tashkent and it's glitzy with none of the slavery.

Long term UAE resident here. It's perfectly safe, everything is normal. Kids are in school, almost all families who left in March came back within weeks or after summer break.

FCDO advice is always worth a look. There aren't as many visitors as usual right now, personally I prefer it like this.

Things are fine here at the moment and have been for a few months - there are tourists but fewer than normal. It is bloody hot though (but you’d probably get a good deal on a hotel).
