Recommendations for a cosy short break

I need recommendations for a lovely quiet hotel in England or Wales for a solo stay of a few nights before the Christmas madness (and expense) kicks in. I will have a car. I can't walk very far at the moment so lovely grounds for a short stroll, great views, a cosy interior and a good restaurant are on my wish list.

Can you give some idea where and your budget.

Dormy house Cotswolds for quiet and cosy, Kings Head Cirencester for walkable, flat and nice town.

I live in Sussex so anywhere south of Birmingham so the drive isn't too long. Budget is not Michelin star but not really limited.

I’m off to Newquay next month!

I did think about Cirencester so will have a look, but possibly a more rural location seeing as I will have a car.

Then Dormy house I would recommend. Lovely walks (they supply wellies) and there is a special tasting restaurant in house that is wonderful. Small but perfectly formed spa with short drives to some lovely Cotswolds towns
