Is Alicante in December a good family weekend break?

We are thinking about going on a little break this year in December in the run up to Christmas for a weekend to Alicante. DH and I who both have birthdays around Christmas have decided that instead of birthday presents or Christmas presents for each other we’d like to take the children away for the weekend somewhere warmer.

Has anyone done Alicante in December? Was there enough to do etc? X

I went in January and it was far from dead! Evening was very busy on the streets people still sat out for drinks etc .

I agree. We went in January and it was really busy. We took the tram to Benidorm so it was very busy.

You could definitely fill a weekend. Wander around the castle and marina area, city in general, lots to see and do. Christmas lights and there might be a market too.

You could also get public transport to another place such as Calpe, Denia, Altea, Benidorm, countryside or Villa Joyosa, which is a pretty town with colourful houses. If your DC are younger, there's usually lots of playparks also the beach obviously for running around on.

Curious as to why the first comment was deleted. Judging by the follow up, no doubt it was some ill informed tedious nonsense from someone who can't see past a few All Inclusive holiday resorts so is unaware that Spain is a real country with cities, history, culture and lots of interesting things to see and do.
