Mid week break in Cork this half term

We are planning on booking three days in Cork this half term with two mid teen girls- would very much welcome any recommendations or suggestions. We won’t be hiring a car (unless it’s essential) but happy to travel further out by train.
Our second option is Belfast if anyone thinks that might suit us better.

The Marina Market is fabulous...and you can walk from there to the BlackRock Observatory - all along the river.

If the teens like animals then Fota is lovely - there is a train going directly there from close to the city centre. And you could go from Fota on to Cobh (on the train) which is a great spot. You can take a harbour tour or hire self drive ribs around the Harbour in Cobh. Or you could go to Spike Island (from Cobh) - they sometimes run very good events for Halloween which teens might like.

Cork is my favourite place. You want to go to fota wildlife park, Jameson distillery in midleton and take a boat tour round the harbour. We always hire a car but there are trains. My favourite place to stay is castle martyr but I book a lodge through trident holidays.

We went to the Titanic Experience in Cobh which my teens loved, only lasted about an hour though.

Both are great, Belfast easier without a car imo.

Belfast would be so much easier with no car.

Can anyone recommend or advise any places to experience live traditional music, I believe that under 18’s are allowed in bars until 9pm.

There are not that many "sights" in Cork City but more of a place to walk around, eat and drink.

It's very touristy but the Franciscan Well often has trad music and does great pizzas.

Maybe look at the Whazon website to see what is on in other pubs

Cork city Gaol, (not for you, it's a place to see!)
The English Market and around Oliver Plunkett Street for a bit of life in the city.
Blackrock
The riverfront boardwalk down by Lapp's Quay is very nice full of restaurants and bars to people watch and rest your legs.
Out to the seaside at Myrtleville
Blarney Castle and Park
Cobh (train)
Midleton (train)
Kinsale (bus from bus station)

Here's some info on trad music in the pubs. You can look up the address on maps.

I hate to say it, but bring a raincoat. It can rain a lot in Cork, but you could be very lucky and be dry too! Be prepared....
