Malaga in December

Hello - anyone been in December and how did you find it? There appears to be some Xmas markets - would love to hear anyone who’s been.

We have been to Spanish markets before at Xmas (Barcelona) and enjoyed the warmer weather. Just curious re Malaga before booking anything.

We're staying there from Boxing Day to 2nd January. We've been there for the day in December when PILs lived nearby. It's been something we've been meaning to do for years.
The market was good. We plan to look at the lights, go to the Alkazabar, drink sherry, go for walks on the beach. Maybe even a brief dip!

What's the temperature in Malaga in December? Would outdoor pools in hotels near heated? Considering a bit of winter sun after a terribly wet summer.

Went last December just before Christmas, loved it. Beautiful lights in the centre of town with light shows twice a night, bright blue sky, warm enough for light trousers and light jumper but still very Christmassy . We had 2 nights Malaga and 2 nights Marbella, an easy bus trip, it was great.

Love it. It’s one of our favourite Christmas weekend breaks. Lovely weather, amazing lights and atmosphere and all the Christmas markets.

Wet summer? Where are you?
We in the Midlands had no rain for around 50 days and temperature in the 30’s for weeks on end.

The sea was news-worthily cold in August, I'd be looking for a heated pool in December!

West of Scotland. There has been no heatwave. It has rained, and rained and rained.

I've been in Nov (and April and sept). For me it was still warm enough most of the time for T-shirts and a light coat/cardigan in the evenings.

Locals will be wearing 'winter' clothes, even if its a sunny, warm day by our standards. So winter boots, coats, scarves, hats and mittens! I love Malaga. Its easy to walk around, lots to see/do, good food, great market. 1 day trip we enjoyed was getting the train to Ronda to see the famous bridge.

As previous posters have said, its a lovely atmosphere, feels festive and the Christmas lights are fantastic. The market is great too, lots of stalls around the marina and in the park. The only thing to bear in mind is that it gets really busy, especially at the weekend, and the crowds around the main street to see the nightly light and music shows are massive. But worth braving it as its a lovely experience!

We've had some mixed wet, windy and quite chilly weather in December, but also had warm sunny days and even a chilly swim in the sea on a couple of occasions.
