Ideas for an Easter holiday with culture, activity and relaxation

I am looking for inspiration for an Easter holiday trip. It will be my husband, myself and possibly one of our adult children. We like a mixture of active, culture and relaxation. We have about 2.5 weeks.

We really enjoyed Vietnam this year.

Any inspiration would be great! Thanks.

Mexico, specifically the Yacatan peninsula. It’s completely safe, and there’s Tulum, Chichen Itza and Merida for culture, Xcaret for activity and Playa del Carmen for relaxation.

Easter’s a great time of the year to visit NZ.

@RobinEllacotStrike thats a thought! We do actually have family there too. I’m a bit put off by the journey/jet lag for 2.5 weeks but maybe I should look into it…

Sri Lanka

We’re going to India to do the Golden triangle and then Goa to relax

Sicily.

I second Sicily - we did it last year with 2 adults and 2 kids. Catania 2 nights, Taromina 3 nights inc trek up Mount Etna, Cefalu for 3 night - lovely historic town with lovely beaches, Palermo for 2 nights - lots to see including the beautiful cathedral and then 5 nights in San Vito lo capo for beaches, boat tours and relaxation.

Thanks. We’ve been to Sicily too! I agree it’s amazing. Not at Easter though, too chilly. Easter is very early next year.

India or Sri Lanka are good ideas. It may be very hot at that time. We’ve done the west and south of Sri Lanka and loved it. Would like to explore more there.

Costa Rica if you enjoy wildlife?

chec rainy seasons for India or Sri Lanka, I’m not sure when the monsoons arrive. I do highly recommend Sri Lanka if you prefer independent travel but if you are up for a tour India is amazing, we arranged through coop travel and it was pretty reasonable considering it was all private transfers, private guides, 4/5 star hotels and all entry fees.

The Caribbean is still nice weather-wise in April. Barbados and St Lucia are possibly the islands best for culture and activity. They both have zip lines, snorkelling, boat trips, good hikes, tours round cocoa plantations and distilleries etc… and they’re quite easy to get around. Barbados has a really good public transport system by Caribbean standards!

Cuba? I haven't been in a really really long time, and back then I did a package holiday with my Mum, nice beaches and lots of culture, ticks lots of boxes but infrastructure was quite hit and miss. If you liked Mexico then Belize/ Guatemala/ Honduras all have their share of Mayan sites and have options for beach time. Someone said Costa Rica this is also a good call if you've not been, seems to be as good as it gets weather wise. I generally think the Carribbean is more rest and relaxation focussed than being a cultural big hitter, but if you are considering the Carribbean then maybe Seychelles could also be an option? More out their suggestions ... Japan? Culturally rich but not massively hot in April, but would you consider a 2 centre holiday and combine one of them with beach time in Malaysia/Thailand on the way home. Same could be done with Taiwan (I haven't been to Taiwan, but would like to go). India and the Maldives also another option for a 2 country holiday combo and much closer together than Japan and Thailand.

India will be very hot- 35-40C - but won’t be the rainy season yet.
It’s good value. We have 15 nights in 5 star hotels, all transfers, tours, entry to sites breakfasts and a dedicated car
and driver for Delhi- Agra- Jaipur plus business class flights for 3- £16k.

Jet lag seems to be not too bad on arrival as you land and its all bright & sunny. I usually go for 3 weeks, though you could still have a wonderful holiday in 2 weeks.

I do love the sound of India but I think 35-40C is too hot! I think maybe Christmas time would be better. One for the future - thanks!

@TeamGeriatric i am actually really tempted by Guatemala - for some reason I have a yearning to climb a volcano! Cuba also sounds interesting. Maybe Japan but I think our kids would like to come too.
