Colombia - anyone visited recently?

I want to visit Colombia, but my DC are concerned about safety.
We would be doing the tourist trail, and use guides to explore. We would of course stick to the FCO advices areas.
Has anyone been recently? How did it seem, was it edgy? Any views?

Thanks

Have you looked at the FCO advice? It’s a bit grim. I’d not go at the moment.

Forgive me, whats going on in Colombia? Its on my bucket list!

Read the FCO advice. Earthquake aftermath is just one issue! Did you miss that news?

Oh god I forgot 🤦‍♀️, during the world cup, of course. How heartbreaking.

Same with Jamaica's awful weather event

I googled Colombia travel advice, lots of the country isnt safe, especially the land boarders

I still dream of going one day

The tourist areas of Bogotá and the Caribbean areas like Cartagena are fine. I'd like to visit Medillín and Cali but not had the opportunity. I've also been to Villa de Leyva which was amazing but I was with Colombians at the time. Never encountered anything dangerous or scary.

There’s a long list of violent crimes against Brits on the FCO web site. If I went, it would now be in a group. I prefer Ecuador or Peru. Best country is Argentina in many ways but elections coming up so Las Malvinas back on the political agenda.

You will be fine, and will have a great time. I have been and lots of my colleagues recently. Please do visit Medellin.

Only don’t go around exhibiting mobile’s phones on the streets, and don’t carry all your money and cards; just as in any big cities these days.

Cartagena is a bit busy and hot so would only spend a few days there; but there are beautiful places in Colombia

Just dont go to the jungle. Lots of turist in Colombia these days

Carrie Johnson been instagramming her family trip there although I guess if you have lifetime security you can afford to be a bit more relaxed!

Yes that might give some advantage.

Perhaps I’ll give it a bit more time. Thanks all
