Why can't you google this?

We only got typhoid and hep A, kids included. Are you doing anything animal related that might increase your risk? Risk seems low in Phuket, but I would talk to a healthcare professional to get more accurate advice.

What the hell is wrong with you OP! Thailand is a high risk country for rabies. You don’t need to intend to have anything to do with animals for your young child to come in to contact with a stray. If they have an open wound and come in to contact with saliva through stroking an animal, never mind being scratched then they are at risk. If you don’t want to vaccinate your young child don’t take them to a location where it is required. And yes, use google!

And @TeamGeriatricthat was very irresponsible of you

Yes and that link, which is the official recommendation for vaccine info from the government, recommends Rabies vaccine in only in a subset if travellers which does not include people going on short holidays. I don't appreciate the suggestion my comment was irresponsible, I consulted a health care professional before we travelled, I followed their advice to the letter and none of us caught rabies. I believe that is confirmed as 8 years has passed since we travelled to Phuket.

Yes I didn't have rabies for Thailand in 2016. It's only recommended in certain circumstances. I have had it now as I went to Zambia and Malawi last year. 2 vaccines 2 weeks apart. It wasn't bad.

And the link also says children are more vulnerable both to injury and not reporting it! Rabies is ENDEMIC in Thailand. There is good public awareness which is why there are low rates of fatalities.
