7 Nights Hotel or 10 Nights Villa Holiday

Looking to go to Antigua for some winter sun. Hotels seem very expensive for what they are, so we could do a week at a hotel on B&B or 10 nights in a villa with small pool.

No specific advice on Antigua, but I think it comes down to location always. Do both options have easy access to the beach? Is that what you want or are you happy with a pool? What about restaurants, looking at a map is it easy to walk out and get a meal in both places? Eating in hotels is usually more expensive but I don't see very many independent restaurant options in Antigua that's based only on looking at the map. Even if your only option is to eat at other hotels, is there a bit of variety in terms of hotel restaurants to choose from? If everything is equal I would go for the longer stay. Sorry no answers only questions for you to consider.

Yes, if you're in a villa, are there nice restaurants nearby, preferably within walking distance and shops where you can buy groceries unless you're planning on eating out three times a day? Then how much will this all cost compared with staying in a hotel?

My preference is self catering or BB in a central apartment, balcony or terrace and walking distance to all amenities non negotiable. Then we tend to have a decent mid morning breakfast in the accommodation and will go out and about, usually having a late lunch out.

Then dinner might be something light either in the accommodation or out with drinks. Or we might just get an ice cream in the daytime and eat out in the evening.

We will stock up in the supermarket with drinks, snacks and easy food for breakfasts and a couple of meals in. So not a lot of work, better food and restaurant experience than all but high end hotels but nowhere near as expensive.
