Do I need a middle name on my flight booking?!

Panicking a bit here - I'm due to fly at the weekend and realised my middle name isn't on the flight booking (Easyjet) and I can't get through to anyone in customer services. Has anyone had any issues?

You don't need your middle name on the ticket. I had this before and it was all OK.

Doggymummar · 08/09/2026 20:43

So long as it's not on your passport you'll be fine. Name has to be as per passport

momager22 · 08/09/2026 20:43

I’ve forgotten to put mine in before with EJ and it was fine.
just first name and surname needs to be accurate

First name and surname need to match your passport, they’re not bothered about middle names. I fly with EasyJet a lot and never put my middle name, despite it being on my passport, never had a problem.

G5000 · 08/09/2026 21:30

you don't. I fly Easyjet at least monthly, never used middle names, nobody cares.

TeamGeriatric · 08/09/2026 21:39

Agree with last 2 posters definitely not required by easyJet. I don't have it on any of my past bookings, despite it being on my passport.

CosyRoby · 08/09/2026 21:47

It’s fine , you only need first and last names
We went TUI this summer and I forgot to put middle names ( which are on our passports ) and it was fine .

PropertyD · 08/09/2026 21:51

It’s important with some airlines in the Far East

Dilemma999 · 08/09/2026 21:52

Yes, definitely with airlines like Japan you need to include all names on your passport but not with EJ.

StarDolphins · 08/09/2026 21:54

My middle name is on my passport but I never use it to book flights. I think the first and last name are needed and I’ve never been pulled up

Honeypickle · 08/09/2026 21:59

There was a long thread about this being necessary for Japan - I wonder if that poster managed to fly out there successfully? I felt quite stressed for her just reading about it!

angelcake20 · 08/09/2026 23:47

I’ve flown 16 times this year, including EasyJet and Japan (though not a Japanese airline), and have never put my middle name on a booking.

PropertyD · 10/09/2026 16:47

A friend went last year and took an internal flight from Saigon to Da Nang. She was turned away as her ticket didnt have her middle name. Its not common but she literally had to buy another ticket.

parietal · 10/09/2026 16:49

I only use first and last name on the ticket despite having 3 middle names. Never had a problem in lots of international travel.

Egilsay · 10/09/2026 17:15

It doesn't matter. I know, because my granddaughter's middle names are in her passport, but the combination is too long for booking tickets online, so I recently phoned an airline and double checked. First and last need to match.

bananaobama · 10/09/2026 17:58

If you speak to EJ, they will tell you to change the ticket at a cost of £100

just chance it. It’s unlikely to be a problem

pearlsclutchedhard · 10/09/2026 18:07

No you are all good - I work in travel we rarely use middle names unless asked.
