What do you do on a plane other than read, listen to music and watch films?

I’ve just discovered that crochet hooks are prohibited in hand luggage by my airline (confirmed) and I might go mad without something to do. Help!

No, JAL to Tokyo.

I’m quite short, so for me a wider seat makes more difference for comfort than more legroom. I choose JAL specifically because fheir seats are wider than other airlines because they put one less seat in each row on wide body planes.

I wish I had the foresight to have checked that!
I’m currently asking the internet to help me decide (which I know is futile).

From the depths of my memory, I dredged up tatting, which my mother and I did briefly during a wet holiday in Wales in the early 1970s. I suspect I was impatient and rubbish at it then, as it was abandoned, but I am old now.

This is my answer to the crochet problem.

Happy now. I can teach myself to make little bits of lace whilst watching the flight map and listening to music or podcasts, in between eating and drinking, watching the entertainment, reading and going for exercise “walks” to the galley. And sleeping, of course.

Thanks all for the great ideas and advice.
