Where to go for 5 nights

I have 3 days annual leave and want to get away with dh. Budget around £1500 but has flex. Bonus (or more to the point more budget because the bus goes to the airport) if we can fly from Bristol. Where may have i overlooked? Thinking b&b so need nice places to wander around and eat each evening

Den Hague (Flight about an hour). Public transport in The Netherlands is great. Train direct from the airport.

Prague, Munich, Malaga and Lisbon aren’t too pricy and have enough for 5 days

So put those into Skyscanner - if you don't have exact dates, you can search for by month, setting everywhere as your destination and see what good priced flights come up. No point looking at places you can't get to from Bristol or where the flights are hundreds of pounds each.

If you get a choice between Jet2 and Ryanair/Easyjet remember that the included bags with Jet2 will be enough for the trip but for the other two you'll likely need to spend at least another £60 on luggage so can close an apparent gap in prices unless you're one of those Mumsnetters who vac packs all her spare clothes into her handbag or rinses out her top and pants in the hotel sink every night.

Porto would be good for a trip and you could probably get the train to somewhere else close by if you run out of things to do in the city. Also what about Alicante or Palma? You can get there from most airports due to beach holidays but both are great cities to visit in their own right and have good connections to nearby areas.

We've just got back from Alcudia, staying b&b at Solecito Apartments. Loads to do in the area & very close to bus stop

Porto, Alicante and Palma are all good options. If you are only going for 3 days then you need a short flight and transfer which you get with all of these. A City with beach access is like two holidays in one, and if you want a trip out one of the days, Sóller is a lovely trip from Palma, if you haven’t already been. I’m planning a longer holiday in Alicante next winter and I think that Altea looks a lovely trip out, although I haven’t been in person.

For Ryanair they allow you to take a pretty roomy under seat bag. I managed to fit enough in for a 5 night stay - all rolled up nicely. You just have to wear your bulky shoes, a jumper and your coat on the plane!

Antibes. Fly into Nice. Train goes along the coast to Monaco etc. Very romantic and pretty and lots of wandering.

Corfu town

Porto is lovely! Plenty of wandering around to be had, easy tram into the city centre from the airport, weather still sunny. Just be aware that it's very steep!!
