2 adults and 14ds and 10dd. Central - maybe an apartment or hotel with pool? Budget circa £1000 for 5 nights

Have you checked out airbnb? Two of us recently stayed in an apartment in the old town. It was handy for everything.

I take it you want central city? We stayed in Catedral apartments or something like that on booking.com. we stayed in two apartments there, one one bed and one two bed. Perfect, right beside the cathedral obviously and they both had small balconies with amazing views of the cathedral which was so special at night. Just above plaza del obispo which is one of my favourite locations in the city.

Will be tight - central and pool for £200 a night for 4 people in half term...

Oh sorry I didnt see the pool request. Yes, that's tricky unless you're willing to all be in one hotel room which i usually avoid so I don't book hotels with kids if they don't offer apartment style. There are some apartments with pools online but the reviews aren't amazing and id confirm if pool still open. Torremolinos isn't far away from city centre?

Does it have to be Malaga city?

There’s a modern cheap reliable railway that has a station in the airport and goes as far south as Fuengirola which opens up the beach resorts of Costa del Sol to you.

Had a look on Booking.com earlier, only one hotel at £200 a night during half term with a pool. Kinda limits your options somewhat...
