Barcelona with children: Easter or May half term for a calmer visit?

We have been to Eurocamps around Barcelona for the last two years in the summer. Children absolutely love pools and beaches but struggled visiting Barcelona in the heat. They found it too much with the heat and crowds (they are both autistic). They are both keen to see Barcelona properly though so for next years holiday we are going to book a trip to Barcelona outside of summer so we can explore.

which is a better time to go? Easter or May half term? I like the idea of May because it might be warm enough for pools and some time at the beach but it could also be too hot! Easter I’m worried everything will be closed and no choice of going to the pool.

has anyone been at either of these times and can let me know what it was like? We will do eurocamp.
thank you!

May half term, as Easter is a holiday for virtually the whole of Europe. We went in May and it was perfect: t shirt weather (a light jumper sometimes in the evenings), no rain, cloudless skies, but not too hot.

I went in Feb half term and it was lovely, not warm enough for pools and sometimes needed a light jacket but ideal for sightseeing.

By May it’s pretty busy, if you want quieter i would book feb half term and expect cool weather

I reckon October half-term would be the best time for the sort of weather that you'd like for your trip.

Thank you. We already have childcare and camps booked for October had term so couldn’t go this year. Hadn’t thought about February!

February was also going to be my suggestion. Not too busy and probably temp in the mid teens. I don't know about pools but have always found the beach nice for a walk then. Water might be cold, admittedly!
