We're considering going to South Africa next summer with our 16-year-old DS and have come up with a rough itinerary. If anyone has done a 2-week trip to the Cape area in Jul/Aug, or knows this area well, I'd welcome any constructive comments as this is a new country for us. In particular, if you have any good suggestions for a convenient safari destination, that would be great. We don't want to go whale watching, so please don't recommend this.
Also, if anyone has any info on how safe it is to self drive and/or whether it's a good idea to book through e.g. Trailfinders, and what the advantages of that might be, I would appreciate it as we usually book everything ourselves and we'd probably prefer to do this. TIA
