Hi, we are thinking of going to Malaga for a week over Christmas (21-28 Dec). It's me, DH and 3 adult DC (early - mid 20s). I would really love recommdations for accommodation for 5 that's close to restaurants, nightlife etc. We've been near Alicante the past 2 years and found it very quiet. Hoping to keep cost below €2,000. Would appreciate any help!

Is that €2k for all five of you, i.e. €400 each for a week over Christmas?

Maybe two or three nights in a hotel, but you might find an apartment on Booking.com or Air BnB. It's busy in Malaga that time with the light displays etc. But you might be lucky to find somewhere for 2k for a week. I suppose it's possible, but not for a hotel I'd say.

Anywhere in Malaga city is great, but best up around Calle Larios/Marina area. The area around Zambrano station is lively enough, but it's a bit of a hike down to the action around the Cathedral area.

On the other hand, you might be happy to rent an apartment in a place on the coast like Benalmadena or Fuengirola. That might be easier to rent at that time, and there's a train that goes all the way into Malaga from there.

Thanks so much for replying so quickly!! I was thinking the budget a bit low! We've been to Benalmadena a few years ago but thought it was a bit dead in the evenings..but we were at the end furthest from Puerto Marina. I'll check put the area you've mentioned. I think the hike back from the cathedral area would bother me. Had a lovely holiday in tenerife but the 1km from beach to hotel was uphill😲
Thanks again - off to start looking into thise areas now
