Travel Insurance- Avanti vs Insure and Go

Has anyone had experience using Avanti or Insure and Go with medical conditions please? Previously used Admiral(have European annual cover until Feb 2027) but their single trip insurance for a holiday next summer to North America is £800+ whereas both above can offer annual policies under £550.

Unless someone has made a claim it's impossible to tell which is best.

Yes that is a good point, thanks for the links. Amazes me how much premiums have hiked in recent years and then with our accumulated medical conditions. We used to be covered by dh company policy so this is yet another additional cost of him being early retired.

Following. About to look at annual insurance as two holidays booked but awaiting outcome of tests first.

I'm a bit of an old hand at this. Multiple medical conditions and history of cancer so I'm scrupulous about travel insurance.
I'm currently with Nationwide bank, opened the account purely for the travel insurance. I pay £18 a month plus a premium. The good thing is that if a new condition crops up during the year they will cover you if you booked the holiday before the problem arose even if it's undiagnosed. They will also exclude undiagnosed conditions which most travel insurers won't do.
Unfortunately I've had to cancel three holidays this year because of health problems. I have a couple of undiagnosed things and I'm on a long NHS waiting list.

Had InsureandGo in covid and supposed to cover it but was incredibly difficult to claim anything and we didn't. I got the £6k back directly in the end from everyone concerned but took a year, had to use charge back for one and one got credits which we used in 2024. Would never use Insure and Go again, wasn't cheap either £150. Use InsuranceWith now, I know they paid out £5k for a lady with stage 4 in US though not tried to claim myself.
