North Carolina

Has anyone been to North Carolina with children?
I am currently in the early stages of planning a twin centre next year, 1st week Orlando and thinking of NC for the second week. I’d like to spend maybe 2 nights in Concord for NASCAR stuff and then 4/5 nights somewhere beautiful but family friendly in NC. Initial thoughts are maybe Boone but wondering whether coastal may be better/more family friendly.

Loved the area around Boone. It’s got loads of beautiful trails and hiking. You can go tubing and rafting, lots of look outs and the mountain top foot bridge. We stayed at some lovely cabins and enjoyed the blueridge skyway. It suited our outdoorsy teens.

You need a car, but some lovely old towns worth a wander and the Vanderbilt place not too far away. BMW has a huge car museum in Greenville too I believe. It was hot when we were there.

I think it’s a good drive from Orlando (not done it), but spectacular through the mountains. We flew to Atlanta, but Charlotte or Raleigh (sp?) are closer.

Thank you. We would rent a car I think but plan to fly from Orlando to Charlotte.
I think the mountains side looks stunning but trying to balance whether it suits the children (they’ll be 11 and 9). They’re both outdoorsy but love the beach! This feels like more of a contrast to Orlando though.
