Currently on an AI holiday. There is every type of cocktail, mocktail etc on the menu. I normally just drink wine but feel I should try something.. recommendations?

A negroni
Or a French 75
Or a whisky sour
Or a grapefruit gin fizz
Or indeed most gin fizzes

I think those are my favourite not-sweet cocktails.

These are my kind of cocktails!

long Island iced tea
old fashioned

AI cocktails are usually not very nice and out of the gun thingy, unless you’re staying in an upmarket resort with properly made cocktails.
i love a good pina colada or a mojito if they’re well made ones. If not I stick to Malibu and lemonade with a twist of lime

last night I had

A porn star martini
A cuba libra
a baby Guinness shot

all very nice!

am now enjoying an aperol spritz which I can confirm is also very nice!

I could get used to this!

Cosmopolitan
Moscow Mule
Mojito

I second Malibu and Lemonade on ice with mint.
Though iced water with lemon slices and mint is more refreshing.

I tend to upgrade to named drinks these days, but mojito was one of my favourites. I didn’t like the pre-made cocktails so much as they’re so sweet!

Twisting · 28/08/2026 13:00

Malibu and pineapple juice is a good one.

Like a bargain basement pjna colada!

FeministThrowingAPrincessParty · 28/08/2026 13:14

Aperol spritz

SwedishEdith · 28/08/2026 13:43

Do they have a lemon drop? Not had one but really fancy one.

A pisco sour.

ImWearingPantaloons · 28/08/2026 14:42

I always stick to wine or beer, I’m not convinced they don’t water the spirits down!!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 28/08/2026 19:01

I like zingy ones usually (if my reflux can take it!). gin or tequila based cocktails or a nice spritz.

Tom Collins type of thing for gin.

Mojito if I"m having rum (or a a pina colada now and again)

Margarita (has to be done well).

Oh, I had a Kleos Spritz this year for the first time. Very nice.

Classics like Kir Royale or a Bellini. Sex on the Beach.

If it's AI I'd have no qualms about trying every one on the menu, especially if they're good quality and not just premade cheap rubbish.

I had the nicest cocktail on a Virgin cruise last week - it was in their new Indian restaurant. Called a Smoking Merchant. Mezcal, tequila, lime, turmeric, mango, parsley, spices. It was divine. Had a spicy salt rim. Their cocktails are very well done.

Waitingfordoggo · 28/08/2026 19:37

Mojitos aren’t too sweet (if made properly they should have plenty of lime and mint). I also have a bit of a thing for spicy Margaritas but I had too many of those last time I was at an AI hotel and the next morning was not a good time.
