Spain suggestions for long weekend in Oct.

Would like 3 nights somewhere that’s ideally accessible from Stansted.
I love walking around pretty streets, maybe a castle / cathedral, nice food and places to drink coffee / wine.
Annoyingly I now need coeliac friendly eateries after a recent diagnosis.
We’ve already been to Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga, Seville, Granada. Loved them all!
Our first thought was San Sebastián, but Skyscanner isn’t coming up with any decent flights (either to SS or Biarritz which is close enough as a base airport).
Give me your ideas and inspirations, please 😊

Can you fly to Bilbao to SS? Or fly from City Airport to SS. It’s such a fabulous city!

Fly to Jerez and take the train to Cadiz.

Get a train/coach to Cordoba from Malaga. OMG what an absolute beauty of a small city, it has everything you are looking for, and more.

What about Alicante, not as picturesque as Barcelina or Valencia but has a lovely small old town , a great marina and a great tram network that goes north to lots of nice places

Granada, Seville, or Bilbao. All three are gorgeous cities, all three very different so do your research and choose the one that suits you best. Lots of restaurants, easy to walk around, good local transport if you fancy venturing further ( really applies to Bilbao) but plenty to do and see if you want to stay put. Sorry, see you have already been to Granada and Seville!

I loved Cadiz - it's been a few years since I've been, and a was a bit scruffy then! But I think it's been tidied up a bit.

Absolutely love Cordoba - it's so interesting.

All the others (if you can get to Bilbao, there's a regular coach to San Sebastian) or Palma or Girona.

How about Girona. It’s an historic medieval city. Jet2 fly from Stansted direct to Girona.

Look at Palma. Lots of flights from Stansted (and, depending on where you're starting from, Southend, which is the nicest small airport anywhere). It's a city of 400k people - Majorca is not just about the beaches. Castle, check. Cathedral, check. Tons of other stuff to see and do as well.

I live in San Sebastián- the airport is only a tiny posh one. For atansted you need Bilbao or Biarritz and there’s a coach from the airport.

My favourite cities in Spain are the Andaluz ones: Cordoba, Granada and Sevilla.

Merida is a hidden gem of a city not yet discovered by as many tourists but I think that’s probably as it isn’t near an airport.

you can fly Stansted to Castellon and go to Peñíscola - smaller but stunning.

Bilbao.

I’m off to Sitges for 3 nights next Friday, it’s half an hour from Barcelona airport and I’m told it’s lovely, no-one seems to have a bad word to say about it!

Another saying Cordoba. Beautiful (though unbearable in August -48!)

Jerez is very authentic for a few days.

Tarragona is also a great city.

I love Spain and my recommendations would almost certainly include the cities you've already mentioned.
Most recently visited Santiago de Compostela.
Not sure about weather in October or practicality of flying from Stansted, but well worth a visit.

I was also going to say Cordoba. Well worth a visit. Tarragona is also very nice for a mini break.

Budapest? We flew there for three nights earlier this month from Stansted.

If it's any comfort, I've found Spain to be excellent for GF food. Even very small eateries seem to very aware of cross contamination.

(In fact, if you have time, go into a supermarket and marvel at the many shelves of interesting gluten free food!)

PS - what I would do is look at what flights have the best times from Stansted to maximise your time there - ie early in the day for departure and late for the return day.
